At the heart of the Bordeaux region – precisely in Margaux – there is a wine that is a world in its own right. A unique combination of an outstanding terroir, centuries-old tradition and modern innovation, Marquis d’Alesme is not only a great wine but also a singular vision of contemporary luxury
Under the watchful eye of a family, this wine full of character brings the Orient and the West together. Dragon scales and moon gates stand alongside columns and arcades in perfect harmony. A sea of vines stretches before us, with the Rising sun on its horizon. A dreamlike utopia begins to emerge. The pleasure of the senses vies with aesthetic enjoyment.
A Grand Cru becomes an experience.
An understated treasure
Marquis d’Alesme is an estate covering (only) 15 hectares.
Its wine is a 3ème Grand Cru Classé 1855, and its heart is located in the centre of the village of Margaux, following on from the Château Margaux bridle path.
It’s a world-wine made without compromise: an “haute couture” creation that dates back to the rebirth of the estate in 2006. Winegrowers who are masters of their craft take the time to tend the vines as they would a garden. Their work is entirely bespoke: vine by vine, batch by batch, gravity-feeding and finally ageing the wine in the calm darkness of the cellar alcoves.
An Outstanding location
The estate, reinvented after a five-year refurbishment programme (2013-2018), is a dreamlike setting where the pleasure of the senses vies with aesthetic enjoyment.
A towfold culture
It’s a world apart. As far back as the 18th century, the estate was characterised by a taste for the exotic and the cosmopolitan thanks to the open-mindedness and adventurous spirit of Jean Bekker-Teerlink. Today, the twofold culture of Perrodo family once again brings East and West together.
