LA TOUR DE MONS

Since 1098

The history of La Tour de Mons begins in 1098 with the creation of the seigneury of Soussans by William IX the Troubadour, Duke of Aquitaine, Count of Poitiers and Gascony.
Since the beginning many generations have been involved on these lands. Amongst its illustrious owners was Pierre de Mons, who through his marriage acquired the property in 1623, gave it this name and devoted his life to the development of the vineyard. Pierre de Mons also bought the noble houses of Labégorce and Bessan and inherited the seigneury of Marsac thus becoming the first holder of the seven seigneuries which made up the domain of Soussans at its origin.

History is repeated almost 400 years later when in 2020 Château La Tour de Mons was sold by Crédit Agricole Grands Crus to the Perrodo family already owner of Château Labégorce Margaux and Marquis d’Alesme Becker. The Perrodo’s love at first sight for the Margaux appellation places this unique family in the tradition of those who have loved this land over the centuries… The prestigious wine history of Château La Tour de Mons continues.

La Tour de Mons in a few words…

Almost 1,000 years of history
This estate has shared the history of the Aquitaine region for almost a thousand years. On this enchanting land you will find the ruins of a castle (15th and 19th centuries), a chapel, and an oratory dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the middle of the vineyards.

A protected enclosure
The strength of La Tour de Mons is the dense woodland forming a natural enclosure completely surrounding the vineyards.
A magical, romantic, beautifully preserved enclosure that is a true reservoir of biodiversity.

Pure Margaux
Thanks to its terroir of fine Tertiary limestone, graves garonnaises and above all fine clay, which is a major asset able to respond to the whims of the future climate, La Tour de Mons wines, mostly Merlots, are enticing with a smooth and soft touch.
